Welcome to H.W. Flesher Housing Co-operative

Our Mission Statement: "H.W. Flesher Housing Co-operative is a community of people with shared responsibility for each other, our homes and our neighbourhood."

Our community consists of 100 units on 4.5 landscaped acres, each with a private entrance leading directly to the outside. There are three colorful playgrounds, a common meeting room for use by all members, inside storage in each unit and a common 24-hour laundry room. There is also secure underground parking.

The award-winning design has cleverly left ample room for spacious patios and green space where neighbors can live and work together co-operatively. Five of our units are modified to accommodate various disabilities and many of our units are unique with beautiful views, peaked ceilings and spacious patios. Each unit has spacious living room and an eat-in dining room. Some units have washer and dryer hook ups. We have twenty five 1-bedroom, fifty-five 2- bedroom, eighteen 3-bedroom and two 4-bedroom units. The three and four bedroom units are townhouses with basement storage. All other units have additional outside storage. The Co-op's location is ideal for getting to anywhere in the lower mainland with quick access to transit routes including Sky Train and/or highway routes. We are five minutes to Metrotown and twenty minutes from the airport.

Our little village - as we like to think of it - has developed committees to volunteer with to suit all interests. Participation is required in the Co-op and there are many committees to chose from such as Maintenance, Landscaping, Social, Finance, Board of Directors Membership, Newsletter, Recycling, and Special needs to name a few. Volunteering on these committees has enhanced many members's lives and has required people to meet and know their neighbours thereby accomplishing a safe and secure living environment. Our annual birthday barbecue complete with entertainment, dancing and open stage is the main social event of the year. At Halloween the Co-op gathers after trick-or-treating for fireworks and hot chocolate - the children vote this as our most popular event. The sense of community and belonging that is created from these events and others along with our regular general meetings - is essential for living in a growing cosmopolitan city like Vancouver. HW Flesher offers the safety and the security of a small village living in the middle of a large city. You and your neighbours share governance of the Co-op. Our members represent a variety of ages, incomes, languages, experiences, and skills, living together and all contributing to the management of their own community. Children are encouraged to participate in all activities at HW Flesher.
